What happens to skin as we age?

As we get older, skin structure weakens due to a natural decline in collagen. 70-75% of the skin is made up of collagen. In fact, after the age of 25, collagen production can start to decrease at about 1% each year. The deceleration of collagen production is a key factor in the natural aging process.
