Lip Care 101

The time has come to love thy lips

While kissing may be top of mind, lips are made for so much more. You must tend to this vulnerable area just as you would the rest of your face. We’re talking exfoliation, serums, nourishment, protection—the works.

  1. Carry a water bottle with you to be sure you’re drinking enough throughout the day to keep lips hydrated.

  2. Invest in a humidifier. It keeps indoor air moist to help prevent lips from drying out.

  3. Use an SPF daily, all year long. Lips are more prone to sunburn since they lack melanin, the pigment that helps protect skin from the sun.

  4. Night time is the right time to apply a lip treatment. It not only works to nourish the lips while you sleep, but it also provides a protective barrier from a steady flow of dehydrating exhales.

  5. Exfoliating weekly rids lips of unsightly buildup and makes the serums and treatments to follow much more effective. Plus, polishing your pout creates the perfect canvas for bold lip looks.

  6. Keep your tongue at bay. It may feel moisturizing to lick dry lips, but digestive enzymes in our saliva actually damage the skin’s protective barrier.
